The Judicial Professional Employees Union has several scholarships that are
available for members or family of members.
In order to qualify for any of these scholarship programs, an applicant or his
or her parent or legal guardian must be a member of the Judicial Professional
Employees Union. Membership is determined by the existence, on file at the
union office, of a completed and signed membership authorization card.

Awards of $2,000.00 each are made annually for up to five
students. |
| Criteria:

Available to dependents of JPE union members who are graduating
high school seniors and who will be full time matriculating students at an
accredited college or university in the fall. Also available to full time
students who are dependents of JPE Union members and are studying at an
accredited college or university. Awards are based on academic
achievement as well as community and school involvement. All JPE scholarships
are awarded on a one time only basis.

| Criteria:

Available to graduating high school seniors who are the dependents
of AFT members in good standing for at least one year. JPE members are
considered members of AFT. This is a nationally awarded scholarship. Applicants
should have high SAT or ACT scores, be active in their school and community,
receive top grades and demonstrate leadership skills. They should pursuing a
career in labor, education, health care or public service. Each applicant must
write an essay on the influence of AFT in their lives. |

Available to an AFT Connecticut member, spouse of a member, or
child of a member. A student whose legal guardian is an AFT Connecticut member
is also eligible. JPE members are considered members of AFT Connecticut. Two of
the three awards are reserved for those planning to matriculate full time in
either a two or four year college or university program of study. One
scholarship will be awarded to an eligible applicant already attending a
college or university on a full time matriculated basis. |

| Criteria:

Available to a high school senior who is the son or daughter of a
dues paying member or him/herself the member of any union affiliated with the
Connecticut State AFL-CIO. The scholarship is directed toward study at any
accredited college or university and may be used for either a part time or full
time program. It is renewable annually upon successful completion of each
year's studies. Applicants are required to provide a copy of their high school
transcript, evidence of application or acceptance at a college or university
and an essay on a specified topic. |
